General Electric Co. chairman Jeffrey Immelt thinks Alberta should diversify. Albertans must think he is stupid they don’t need “clean technology” they have cattle, natural gas, the Calgary Flames, the Edmonton Oilers and the Rockies so there.

In a speech to the Calgary Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Immelt said GE has identified clean technology as a key source of future growth, even as it continues to pursue traditional energy and infrastructure markets.

“We believe green is green,” he told the Alberta business audience.

“We believe technology is the liberator here. … And this is a long-term economic theme, a place where we’re investing heavily.”
